Overton - Spillane Replica D

Hi Guys.

I started making low whistles back in the early 90's and would spend a lot of time on the west coast of Ireland playing in sessions and having the craig. ....!

In those days I would visit my mate Davy Spillane at his home near Doolin, Galway.

He has a great workshop and studio there.

I had the chance of playing his old Overton low D whistle from the early 70's.

It had an amazing fat sound and I remember making note of the measurements. It had massive finger holes and a very short stubby wind way which gave it that unique tone, just the right amount of chiff balanced with the rich whistle tone.

So, I decided to look out my old notes and have built an Overton - Spillane replica low D whistle. It is amazing, I have kept my hole spacings as I feel the large holes would not suite most people. This has not made a difference to the sound.

This whistle is now available to buy direct from myself.

I love the overton whistles. Been playing them for 50 years all over the world. Since then i tried a lot of whistles but not one as good as overton.

I look forward to hearing you play it. Could someone with thinner fingers cover properly,?

Hello Phil, I just purchased two High D whistles of yours and am so happy with them! My name is David Lynch and I’m a saxophonist/flutist living in Greece. A while back Davy Spillane played in a large concert of mine which was later released as a live album, “Wandering Home”. I’d love to share it with you at some point! Davy’s playing was so touching! I will most probably be ordering the low D sometime soon. Thanks for your care and craftsmanship. David Lynch
